Project 'Putting a Roof Over our Heads' !!

After having a roofer come to give me a quote to mend my roof, he told me he couldn't fix it as trying to fix it would likely break it more, the tiles and nails are 113 years old, pretty impressive. He gave the poor old thing 6 months to live. So not only is it time to start thinking of an installation using 2000 ancient slate tiles, but I need to raise the cash for a new roof. Well I do like a challenge and have decided to not cry and instead knuckle down and go for it.

Good news for you, because all my work is now:

Up to 30% OFF!!!

So here is what's available and, in true saleswoman fashion, the before and after prices. I am also open to being paid in installments, if that works out better for you, we can work something out. It is important to me that everything finds a good home.

Carnesky's Tarot Drome

I went to the opening of the show last night and it was miraculous. Completely amazing, its been so nice to get to know all the performers, artists, costume makers, producers, I have made some proper new friends and I was glowing with pride seeing them in action last night. Temperance was incredibly moving. The roller skating just blew my mind. I couldn't recommend it more and I know I have to go again, because I feel I missed a lot.

It has been such a fantasy in my mind for so long and when we had decided what needed making, the
weight of my imaginings made my head feel like it was in a vice (it was a very ambitious proposal to propose with only two and a half weeks to produce it!!) My god, I have seen the sun rise in half of that time. But as the work started to be purged, my head felt lighter and lighter and by yesterday I was dizzy.

Of course I finished about four hours before showtime with just enough time to trek across London, drop my daughter off, make half my outfit, go and see my daughter riding her bike for the first time and then off to the show with chipped nails and tag still in my jacket. What a hustle!

Installing at Russell's of Clapton

So, I just installed this piece of work at a wicked B&B called Russell's of Clapton. I was pretty nervous about building the frame alone and after two failed attempts at hiring and assistant, I set off with my tools and 8 pieces of 7' wood. I am a little pumped up by how well it went and how lovely it looked, I mean this piece means a lot to me, it takes me back to the mountains of Sonoma where I have had some incredible times, it takes me back to a time near Portland Oregon, when my cousin took me fishing, by a mountainscape, but the lake just drew me in so forcefully that I just walked in in all my clothes and swam next to the boat like a happy dolphin, it takes me to Old Rag, where I drank from the belly of the oldest mountain in the world. I made it in the window of The Hospital Club, in Covent Garden and it was a joy and when I took it out to Mexico for a show, my dearest friend, Adrina Miller, just layed in it and wrapped herself in it.. I am so glad it is in this place, it has been rolled up in a bundle on the roof of my bed and now it is unfurled in a place where others can commune with it and I mean loads! A B&B gets so many people passing through!

It is in good company too, Annette has excellent taste and has bought another piece and has another there to keep her company, Mia and Hayley.

So to herald this success, I thought I would lie in the park with a cold red stripe and try out blogging from my phone. Hope it turns out alright. Now back to sew a 3m x 2m surreal depiction of the moments of revelation you get sometimes for Carnesky's Tarot Drome. Sometimes being an artist is the best thing in the universe.
